“After our second fly-away mission this season, we only had a few days to turn the cars around in order to prepare them and ship them to Tassie. We did sustain a bit of damage in Bahrain so the shop has been flat-out. All of us enjoy the Tasmanian adventure. The track is exciting and totally different to the Sakhir GP circuit. Looking at the history of our cars at Symmons I think we will have a very competitive weekend.”
The second fly-away event for the season was action packed and at times difficult for Andrew Jones and Team BOC. This Round challenged each of the 6 Holdens from the Walkinshaw Performance stable. None of the cars truly found the “sweet-spot” in terms of chassis set-up on this tyre sensitive, low-grip circuit.
Andrew Jones and Team BOC endured a difficult day on the second day of track activity today at Bahrain International Circuit in Qualifying and Race 1 of 3.
Andy’s Qualifying run yielded only 28th, and his race was short lived after becoming innocently involved in an incident at Turn 1 in the opening laps.

The V8 Supercar Championship circus has relocated to the Middle East this weekend for the second fly-away event of 2008. In warm conditions, under clear, hazy skies, Team BOC resumed the Championship battle using today’s 3 part Practice session as a comprehensive test to explore various set-up options for the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). Surrounded by desert, the BIC has a quite unique requirement to make the cars function well in very abrasive, low-grip conditions, which is ....
“It’s a long trip to Bahrain and it is the most interesting and exotic of all the event locations. History shows this track has not been a happy hunting ground for Holdens for some unusual reason and this will be our first race at B.I.C. with the Commodores so we’re planning to turn that fact around. The WOW car has shown consistent strong race pace over the past two events so we’re looking forward to the Middle East adventure.” ....
Andrew Jones and Team BOC endured a character building final day of track activity today. Andrew didn’t finish Race 2 after parking the car as a precaution due to an engine temperature issue. In Race 3 a Pit Lane penalty and a brake problem capped a tough day.
Andrew Jones and Team BOC had a solid second day of track activity at the Surfers Paradise Street Circuit with Race 1 of 3 conducted in fine and sunny conditions despite some wild weather earlier in the day. Andrew finished Race 1 in 17th without incident.
In beautiful, warm, clear conditions at Surfers Paradise today, Practice and Qualifying for Round 11 produced a solid start to the weekend for Andrew Jones and Team BOC.
Since Bathurst the Team has worked hard in preparation for this Round.
Andrew Qualified 21st only missing the cut to make the Top 20 by a tiny margin.

“Historically our Team has enjoyed big achievements on street circuits.
The boys have generated some great results in Adelaide (Clipsal 500), Melbourne (AGP) and Hamilton (NZ) all on street circuits. Cameron consistently finished in the Top 10 and Andrew in the Top 15. We’re all working together to ensure Andrew can deliver a strong result after two tough events. Certainly both drivers are hungry and keen to succeed. After showing encouraging pace up at Bathurst we’re all still gl....
